  3.     We were surprised to read that Kyoto Institute of
  4. Technology had approached Phillips University in Enid, Okla.,
  5. last spring with an offer to buy the school (EDUCATION, Jan.
  6. 23). We have had no contact with Phillips University, have made
  7. no offer to purchase its facilities, and have no summer exchange
  8. program with it. As a national university of Japan, we do not
  9. and could not have the funds to consider such an offer. You must
  10. be referring to the private Japanese institution that uses the
  11. same name as ours in English translation. But it is a completely
  12. different establishment from our school, which is well known by
  13. this name.
